Service Alberta is aware that some businesses in the construction sector have been struggling because of untimely payments on projects. Businesses in the construction industry are voicing growing concerns about late payments on issued invoices for work on construction projects. Service Alberta is committed to taking action to address the problem of delayed payment and is engaging industry stakeholders through in-person sessions and online surveys to better understand the scope of problems and seek input for potential solutions.

Formal stakeholder consultations will start in January. In addition to an online survey, the following stakeholder consultation meetings have been scheduled:

The IDA has been invited to participate an in-person session, as well as respond to the online survey. We are seeking a volunteer RID to represent us in the in-person session. Please email your interest in representing the IDA to Kerri Peyton, IDA President, and indicate which session you wish to attend. Spaces will be limited in each and so a session confirmation from will be forwarded to you in advance.
