Trace the 2019 Art and the City route and Green Alley installation site.

September 14, 2019
Start at The Edison

On September 14, join us for the Art and the City Sketch Crawl with professors Chip Sullivan (UC Berkeley), Elizabeth Boults (UC Davis) and Yves Trépanier (TrépanierBaer Gallery) to preview the 2019 Art and the City route and Green Alley installation site.

One of the stops is at an SAPL research project, the Green Alley Project (GAP), sponsored by the Calgary Downtown Association. The stop at the GAP site will focus on the design challenges of “forgotten urban spaces” and how SAPL can help Calgary meet this challenge. Chip and Elizabeth will share their urban sketching techniques. Yves will provide a narrative celebrating the numerous art installations that populate our downtown core.

Chip and Elizabeth have organized numerous sketch crawls at major landscape architecture conference events around the United States helping to revive the now popular urban sketching movement.

Sketchbooks from the sketch crawl will be hung in the Pioneer Gallery for the Art and the City and Green Alley Project events on September 20–22.
