8		Preparing students for the challenges of 2025 is more than just making sure that everyone takes at least one how-to-code class. Our keynote speaker, Dana DiTomaso, will address the changing technology landscape and what that means for the lessons we teach our students now. Dana is President & Partner at Kick Point, where she applies marketing into strategies to grow clients' businesses, in particular to ensure that digital and traditional play well together. With her deep experience in digital, Dana can separate real solutions from wastes of time (and budget). In her spare time, Dana is the past-president of the Advertising Club of Edmonton and is the weekly technology columnist on CBC Edmonton AM. She also enjoys drinking fancy beer and yelling at football players.

12		Learn from your friends who are trying wild and woolly ideas to replace their interactive whiteboard fleet.	We have a delightful conversation planned with two school jurisdictions who will talk about their methods and systems and learnings from online testing, exams, quizzes - all the way from classroom assessments to Provincial Achievement Tests and Diploma Exams.	Design Thinking has taken the education world by storm! Teachers are using it to support next generation learning, to foster a sense of curiosity and develop student agency. Students are using it as creators and Makers and to understand the process of developing ideas. Administrators can use it too! Learn how you can use the Design Jam to address challenges, give all of your staff or team members a voice, collect user point of view, and generate a prototype of actionable ideas… all within a 60 minute meeting. Lightning speed support that involves your whole learning community. The question is… How might we…????	What's all the fuss about Google Drive and Docs in education anyway? This session will try to help answer that. And what about those elephants in the room? The data storage and privacy issues. We'll address that too. I hope you'll join the discussion!!

17		If you're looking for perfect people and perfect solutions, this is not the session for you. Instead we will have real conversations with real leaders on some of the strategies that they have incorporated and how they have worked. A great opportunity to ask questions and learn from some experienced leaders.	At Millennium, we believe that Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) play an important role no matter what field you choose to pursue. STEM, especially technology, is a way to empower oneself and a way for one to stand out. We work with the goal of empowering youth through the development of skills in STEM. Through hosting conferences and workshops, we emphasize the connection of technology and computer science with other industries and career fields and equipping students with the necessary technological skills in order to be successful in their future careers	Teachers and schools are inundated with the latest and greatest online app that will help teachers teach better, students learn better, make everything easier. Some of these tools live up to their claims but they also come with some risks. Before a teacher inputs student data into an online application, what should they know? What are the risks and how do you know? In this session, we will discuss the questions that need to be asked! Personal data: the what, how, where and who What happens with the data? Is parent consent required? Where is data stored and who owns the data/servers? Is data sold for more than providing the service? Details around the deletion of data. Going forward, how do we make this process easier for everyone? By building an online provincial registry of education apps!	Service Alberta has cancelled this session.

22		Join your colleagues in a facilitated conversation about opportunities and challenges facing technology leaders in the province. Topics will be determined by those that are brave enough to come and share. If you choose to be part of this please be prepared to bring one or two challenges and opportunities that we can then work through in our time together.	Due to the LATE release of the RFP for Microsoft, this presentation has been cancelled.	This presentation will break down the infrastructure and services available to Alberta’s K-12 education community through Cybera, the provincial not-for-profit technology accelerator. These services include 1) Networking resources (directing peering connections to major web providers, and a commercial internet bulk-buying program), 2) Security services (a shared virtual firewall, and an identity federation to simplify the management of students’ online logins), 3) IT procurement (ShareIT, a program for Alberta educators to bulk-buy IT software and hardware), and 4) Data Science services (including a look at how Alberta schools are optimizing their data to increase staff productivity and student retention). Cybera’s services are designed to reduce costs and save time for administrators, while improving the use and understanding of new technologies for the education sector.	The Alberta Library (TAL) is a consortium of public, regional and government libraries representing almost all libraries in Alberta. TAL provides services such as a provincial online catalogue, digital licensing and authentication services. We curate and manage the K-12 Online Reference Centre (ORC) on behalf of Alberta Education and the Lois Hole Campus Alberta Digital Library for Alberta Advanced Education. TAL’s licensing program provides over 200 different products to our members. CEO Tim Janewski will talk about how TAL can work with Alberta schools and school divisions to provide access to a range of digital products and to achieve savings in time and budget.
