5 Questions on Furthering an Interior Design Degree


We reached out to Sunny Bayar to ask her 5 questions about furthering her Interior Design degree to pursue a Master’s degree in Architecture.

ONE: What influenced your decision to continue your design education?

I've always been passionate about Interior design and architecture. As such, continuing my education in architecture became an eventual career path for me to further strengthen my knowledge and understanding between interior vs. exterior architecture.

TWO: What most influenced the selection of your program?

Physical model making, advanced digital tools, and robotics influenced me to take the program. University of Calgary has highly knowledgeable and specialized faculty that enhances your learning experience.

THREE: What surprised you most about this experience?

The workload and experiences are incredibly heavier and challenging in post-grad. It was also surprising and exciting to see how there are people from various backgrounds tackling their projects differently in the program. You get to learn a lot from your peers.

FOUR: What was your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge was adjusting to the heavy workflow of the Master's program. I felt like I was catapulted into the chaos as a fresh undergraduate student.

FIVE: What advice do you have for others considering furthering their design education?

If you are dedicated and passionate about design and architecture, you should definitely further your design education. Always be open and be willing to learn from your peers, mentors, and friends. It will be very challenging, but you get to learn and grow immensely as a person.
