We were engaged by our clients in the Spring 2021 to develop an interior vision for their presentation center for their new farm inspired agri-community housing development set on the landscape of rolling foothills and prairies. The development will house community gardens, extensive pathways, and casual spaces to allow for natural gathering to emerge. More than simply a place to live, the community will pride itself on embracing local heritage, roots, and sustainability, offering not just new homes but a unique lifestyle experience.
We developed an interior vision that complimented and paired seamlessly with the site's vast landscape and our clients' desire to approach the new community with a family friendly, modern farmhouse flare. We worked with our clients to develop and refine their vision to create an interior that successfully represented not only farmhouse interior design, but also told a story about the community they were designing.
Due to a short-term lease agreement, our clients had specific financial constraints and timelines to meet. They required various zones within the sales area to suit their programmatic requirements and wanted the interior to have areas for pop up artisans to come and share their work with the community. We incorporated a casual community kitchen for gathering, lots of areas for plant materials to create connection with nature and the outdoors, as well as zones for laying out products, private areas to perch and learn more about the development as well as a friendly kids cubby zone to sit, read and color.
As the community pushes outdoor living and sustainability, it was important to create a very natural, casual, and playful interior that represented the community design with various areas to gather. The interior of this presentation center is reflective of the casual charm offered in this agri-community and the architecture found there. The interior mood and finishes were designed to embrace sustainability with the use of raw materials that are casual, bright, clean, handmade (murals and floor paintings), and take on a farmhouse fresh modern vibe. The final design resulted in a playfully modern, textural, and clean aesthetic that captured our client’s vision. They were very pleased with the result, as were we.
